Welcome and Library Tour

Welcome to the University of Houston Law Library! Our primary mission is to advance the law community at UH, including our wonderful students and dynamic faculty. We partner with the Law Center in several ways. We provide research services to faculty and students through our team of expert law librarians. We also provide an extensive instruction program, both through formal for-credit courses, and informal teaching. Additionally, we provide extensive materials and programs for student success and wellness, including study aids, course materials, and wellness programs.

Although the University of Houston is a public institution, our library is not a public library- it is an academic library that serves the needs of our students and faculty. We are so fortunate in Houston to be the home of the award-winning Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library, a public law library whose mission it is to serve anyone in our area. However, there are occasions when our law library has a material that is unique, and in those occasions we are happy to help. Our visitor policies explain what services are available. If your question isn't answered there, please don't hesitate to reach out to our director.

Vision: An essential partner to UH Law Center, using our dynamic expertise to impact generations of curious, critical-thinking lawyer leaders.

Mission statement: Holding research and instruction as twin pillars, to create and support evidence-based, critically assessed resources for the University of Houston Law Center, and to empower and hold safe the UH Law inclusive community.
