Using Zoom: Connecting to Zoom

A Guide for Law Students

Connecting from a laptop or desktop

Click on the meeting URL or enter the meeting code in Zoom to enter the Zoom meeting. On a PC, or Mac, you will receive a dialog asking to open the program. Click “Open Zoom meeting.

You can also go to Zoom.us and click “Join a Meeting”

Allow your computer to open Zoom meetings:

Click on join with computer audio, if you have speakers and a microphone:

If you do not have speakers or a microphone, click on the tab that says “Phone Call” for the meeting’s call in number:

You are now in your Zoom meeting.

Connecting from a smartphone or tablet

Click on the meeting URL from the invitation you receive from your Professor in your phone’s email client, and the Zoom app will open.

The app will open, and Zoom will automatically connect to the meeting.

You will see a preview of yourself on video and can select to join with or without video. For Law Center courses, many professors will encourage you to share your video when possible.

Next, you will have the option to connect using internet audio, or by dialing in. Select internet audio.

You are now in your Zoom meeting.

To join using a Meeting ID, open the Zoom app and click Join a Meeting:

Enter the Meeting ID, and click Join Meeting.
